Thomas James Grace

Thomas James Grace was born Sept. 23, 1954, in The Bronx, New York, and most recently lived in Hastings-on-Hudson, New York. He died on June 28, 2025, at age 70.

A graduate of St. Nicholas of Tolentine High School and Quinnipiac University, Tom spent most of his career working in the financial services industry, including in operations at the Vanguard Group and as chief operations officer at National Philanthropic Trust. He also worked as a counselor at St. Vincent’s Hospital in Westchester County, New York. For much of his life, he lived in Newtown, Pennsylvania.

Tom was a lifelong sports fan – probably the only Baltimore Orioles fan to ever have grown up right in the shadow of Yankee Stadium – and introduced his children to his love of sports at a young age. He coached his own kids in softball, baseball, and basketball (his free-throw shot was legendary) and also coached at the local middle school, where the kids insisted he call plays named “coffee” and “chocolate” so they could hear his Bronx accent. He also loved taking trips centered on baseball, and had been to nearly half the Major League Baseball stadiums around the country. 

Tom is survived by daughter Kerry Grace Benn and her husband Kyle; son Kyle Matthew Grace and his wife Shannon; granddaughters Caroline and Mary Catherine Grace and expected grandson Baby Boy Grace, due in October; and his former wife, Ann O’Connell Grace. He is also survived by his sister, Joan McCambley, and her husband, Vincent. Other surviving relatives include his mother-in-law, Kay O’Connell; brothers- and sisters-in-law Robert and Nancy O’Connell, Andrew and Mary Lewis, and Michael and Jean Ciampo; and many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, Paul and Mary Grace; his brother, Richard Grace; and his nephew, Daniel Lewis.
