Thomas F. Mastri
Loving Husband, Father, Grandfather, and Great-Grandfather
Respected Executive, Educator, and Veteran
Thomas F. Mastri passed away peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, on October 19, 2025, at the age of 95. He leaves behind a legacy of integrity, love, and excellence that touched the lives of many.
Born and raised in New York, Thomas graduated from Stuyvesant High School and went on to earn his Master of Business Administration (MBA) from New York University. He served proudly in the U.S. Navy before embarking on a successful business career as an executive with The American Can Company. His position as Managing Director of Business Research took him around the world giving presentations and sharing his expertise. He later continued his professional life as a respected consultant and as a professor at several local universities, where he was admired for his intelligence, discipline, and professionalism.
But to those who knew him best, Thomas was more than his impressive résumé. He was a steady presence in the lives of his loved ones — a devoted husband to Ann, a loving father to Tom and Laurann, a proud grandfather, and, most recently, a joyful great-grandfather.
Thomas cherished time with his family. He took great pride in the home he and Ann built and in the life they created together. He was a guiding force known for his work ethic, punctuality, and unwavering support. His bond with his brothers, Alex and Carmine, and his joy in making music with them were treasured parts of his life.
He also had an appreciation for life’s finer moments like dressing in a tuxedo for formal occasions, dancing with Ann, enjoying fine dining, and making every event feel special.
His values and example set the tone for generations, and his influence will continue to be felt in the lives of those he loved.
Thomas is survived by his wife of 71 years, Ann; his children, Tom (Lynn) and Laurann (Russell); his grandchildren, Kendra (Dylan), Taryn (Billy), Thomas, Chris, Leah, and Jay; his great-grandchild, Holden; and his extended family and friends, all of whom will miss him deeply.
Visiting hours are 4:00 to 7:00 pm on Friday, October 31. Funeral Mass is 10:00am on Saturday, Nov. 1 at the Church of the Presentation, 271 W. Saddle River Road, Upper Saddle River, NJ 07458.
