Vincent A. Long, age 69, of Blythewood, SC, formerly of Glen Rock, NJ died unexpectedly on October 15, 2022. Born in Lancaster, PA, in 1953, he had been a resident of Glen Rock prior to moving to Blythewood, SC, four years ago. Vincent was a loving father, brother, and uncle.
He grew up in Lancaster, PA and attended St. Anthony grammar school and graduated in 1970 from Lancaster Catholic High School. During high school he was very active in sports, and student government. Vincent went on to continue his studies and graduated from LaSalle University with a BS in Accounting, Drexel University with an MBA, and later Fairleigh Dickinson University with an MST, International Taxation (certificate).
Vincent was a dynamic, progressive CPA tax professional providing extensive experience in global taxation. Over the course of his career, he was an entrepreneur starting several companies as well as providing his expertise to multinational corporations.
While residing in Glen Rock, Vince could be found at the baseball field, football field, or basketball court, either helping coach, referee, or cheering on his son. He was an avid golfer who could always be found enjoying a good round of golf in his spare time.
He was a former parishioner of St. Catharine’s RC Church, Glen Rock. Vincent is survived by his loving son, Andrew V. Long of Glen Rock and his two sisters; Tina Gulick and her husband, Roger of Columbia, PA and Anne Mavrides and her husband, John of Lancaster, PA. He is also survived by his nieces and nephew; Mac, Pam, Lisa, and Mike. He was predeceased by his parents, Anthony and Rose Long.
The family will receive friends on Monday, December 12, 2022 from 4:00 – 8:00 pm at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, www.vpfh.com, 257 Godwin Ave. Wyckoff, NJ. Prayers will begin at 9:00 am on Tuesday, December 13, 2022 at the Funeral Home followed by a Funeral Mass at 10:00 am at St. Catharine’s RC Church, 905 S. Maple Avenue, Glen Rock, NJ. Vincent will be laid to rest at St. Anthony’s Cemetery, Lancaster, PA. As an expression of sympathy, donations in Vincent’s memory may be made to the American Heart Association, P.O.
