William Hamersma

Our dear friend William “Bill” Hamersma, age 88, passed away peacefully from this earth to be with God on Monday, October 21, 2024, at home surrounded by loved ones.

Bill was predeceased by his mother and father Jennie and Charles Hamersma, his brother John Hamersma, his sisters Claire Chaparian, Martha Hamersma, and Jessie Hamersma, and his niece Karen Klein. He is survived by his nieces Cathy Clark, Cindy Saunders, Kristin Cross, and Shelly Spalding.

Bill worked for Grand Union as a produce manager when he retired and he worked part-time at A & P as an overnight produce clerk. He was a member of 1262UFCW and a member of the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church.

Bill was a kind and gentle man who would put the needs of others before his own. His passing leaves a void for everyone he has encountered.

A viewing and prayer service will be held for Bill on Friday, October 25, 2024, from 9am – 11am at Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Avenue, Wyckoff, NJ. Interment will follow at Fair Lawn Memorial Cemetery & Mausoleum.  All are welcome.

In lieu of flowers, Bill has requested donations be made to the Midland Park Christian Reformed Church, in care of Pastor Rod Gorter, 183 Godwin Avenue, Midland Park, NJ 07432.
