Wilma Powderley

Wilma Powderley, 84 of Demarest and most recently of Green Township, NJ passed away on June 19, 2025 at the Valley Hospital in Paramus.

Loving mother of Diane Marello (Eric), Kelly Parseghian (Richard), James F. Powderley III (Barbara) and Michael Powderley (Jamie).  Wilma was especially proud of and had a tremendous influence over her 13 grandchildren: Jessica, Glenn(deceased), Erica, Christine, Richard, Daniel, James, Joseph, Danielle, John, Michael, Katie, and Thomas; and 4 great grandchildren: August, Isabella, James and Samuel with 1 on the way, Maisie.  She was also survived by her loving sister Hazel.

Wilma was predeceased by her beloved husband of 51 years James Powderley in 2014, her grandson Glenn in 2021, and her siblings William and Lois.

Wilma was proud to have been one of the first female class 2 special police officers in New Jersey.  In addition, she worked as a medical assistant. She also worked at the New York Bell Telephone Company.  She was known for expertise in the Antique industry and well respected by her peers.

Visitation will be 3:00 to 7:00 pm on Wednesday, June 25 at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home, 257 Godwin Ave., Wyckoff, NJ 07481, www.vpfh.com.

Funeral Service is 10:00am on Thursday at the Vander Plaat Funeral Home.  Interment will follow at the Westwood Cemetery in Westwood.
